Thematic Groups

The Lancet-AUB Commission on Syria: Health in Conflict carries its research work through six Thematic Groups.  A Thematic Group:

  • Produces background reviews, or commissions out such reviews where external expertise is really needed
  • Conducts research, which may include secondary data analysis, evidence synthesis, or primary research if needed, to generate new knowledge in one or more specific areas under the concerned theme
  • Synthesizes the review and research work on different components in the thematic area in a detailed report, which feeds into the final report of the Commission
  • Develops key messages and recommendations that form a core part of the Commission report

Thematic Groups include Commissioners, experts, researchers and volunteer students.
