Conference Postponed - New Dates Coming Soon!
The Sixth International Conference on Efficient Building Design, organized by ASHRAE, the ASHRAE Lebanese Chapter, the Munib and Angela Masri Institute of Energy and Natural Resources and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the American University of Beirut, will be held on October 3-4, 2024 at The American University of Beirut (AUB), Beirut, Lebanon.
A call for abstracts (300 words in length) will open May 20, 2023. The deadline to submit an abstract will be October 15, 2023. If accepted, papers will be due February 15, 2024. Authors of accepted papers are responsible for travel and registration. Hotel accommodations are free for authors presenting papers.
The objective of the conference is to present advanced research targeting human wellbeing and energy through design of safe, healthy, thermally comfortable, and resilient buildings at minimal energy costs. Moreover, papers are welcome on topics that encompass sustainable HVAC solutions that can combat global warming in arid and semi-arid regions and the influence of adoption of sustainable practices by various stakeholders on the investment in decarbonization of buildings.
Papers are sought on the following topics:
- Sustainability in building design
- Advancements in building materials
- Environmental air quality and air quality standards
- Air distribution systems for reducing cross contamination in occupied spaces.
- HVAC technologies towards net-zero
- Solar heating and cooling for built environment
- Low and near zero energy buildings

The conference will include 4 technical sessions that will showcase more than 18 presentations by local and international speakers over two days, as well as four
keynote presentations from distinguished experts and professionals in the field.
The conference is also featuring a public panel titled
COP28 and the Global “Cooling” Pledge with the participation of
six distinguished speakers who will exchange the most recent approaches for sustainable cooling to meet zero-net emission.
Parallel to the conference, two interactive online courses from the Global Training Center will be offered in conjunction with ASHRAE's topical conference on October 1-2, 2024 (prior to the conference) for participants.
