مذكرة جندريه– Mouzakara Jandariya

Translation: Notes on Gender

Abbreviation: MJ

The name Mouzakara Jandariya was purposefully chosen in Arabic to ground the platform in its context by attracting a local and regional community to produce knowledge on gender from their own perspectives, redefining their own intersections when it comes to feminist and gender related issues.

The overarching meaning of Mouzakara Jandariya focuses on the importance of gendering the discourse and on being prompted to think of the gender component's presence in all aspects of our lives, conversations, thoughts and writings.

Stressing on the importance of the personal being political, "Notes on Gender" is a name that also holds a double meaning. The term "notes" or "مذكرة" implies both, the personal short informal diary-like pieces of writing merging into the more general definition of “notes" as reminders pointing out the urgency of tackling gender issues.

Who are we?

Mouzakara Jandariya is AUB MEPI-TLS's official digital publishing platform where writing is viewed as a form of activism. The aim of the publication is to increase gender literacy on campus as well as create a culture of writing about gender especially among students.

Vision

The publication is interested in giving a voice to students by providing them with a non-judgmental writing space to produce good quality content and publish without too many restrictions. The platform is run by the MEPI-TLS team and a body of student editors who already have experience in editing in student-lead publications or in writing.

Writers

Writers can be students from across Lebanon, faculty or anyone willing to share with us an article. Writers are encouraged to submit articles to the editor for publication, but publication is at the discretion of the editorial team.

All AUB students are permitted publication with a priority given to MEPI-TLS students. Alumni are also allowed to write and contribute.
