MRVP Awards

​​​​​​​​​​​Ibrahim and Loulu Durr MRVP Awards

​​The Ibrahim and Loulu Durr Endowed MRVP Award was established in May 2015. Proceeds from this award fund will be used to award students enrolled in the MRVP/MRVP-Int'l.

The two $1,000 cash Ibrahim and Loulu Durr Endowed MRVP Awards are given annually to two students (preferably one male, one female) enrolled in MRVP/MRVP-Int'l who have demonstrated outstanding medical research capabilities, based on the MRVP committee evaluation. Special consideration will be given to students who have shown outstanding research capabilities in the biochemistry field. 



2024 Awards

The MRVP Committee is delighted to announce ​that it has voted to award the 2024 "Ibrahim and Loulu Durr Endowed MRVP Awards" to Ms. Fatima Nazar and Mrs. Layana Takieddine
Fatima was working on the MRVP-Int'l project entitled, "Differentiating Sacral Neuromodulation Lead Electrode Configurations Using Motor and Sensory Thresholds and Locations of Sensation" with Dr. Nissrine Nakib from the University of Minnesota.
Layana was working on the MRVP-Int'l project entitled, "Preparing Core Curriculum Case Series for the American Journal of Kidney Diseases" with Dr. Joe El-Khoury from Yale University.

The MRVP committee would like to thank Fatima and Layana for showing outstanding medical research capabilities as well as dedication and passion for research.

2023 Awards

The MRVP Committee is delighted to announce ​that it has voted to award  the 2023 "Ibrahim and Loulu Durr Endowed MRVP Awards" to Mr. Karim Kanbar and Mrs. Perla Chami
Karim was working on the MRVP-Int'l project entitled, "Manufacturing the Future of Cancer Therapy: CAR-Therapy" with Dr. Rana Khalifeh from the University College London. 
Perla was working on the MRVP-Int'l project entitled, "New Insights of Management of Hepatocellular Carcinoma" with Dr. Carla Hajj from the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NY. ​

The MRVP committee would like to thank Karim and Perla for showing outstanding medical research capabilities as well as dedication and passion for research. 

The committee wishes Karim and Perla the best of luck in their​ future endeavors.

2022 Awards

The MRVP Committee is delighted to announce ​that it has voted to award the 2022 "Ibrahim and Loulu Durr Endowed MRVP Awards" to Ms. Abir Ghzaiel and Mr. Kassem Farhat
Abir was working on the MRVP project entitled, "Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy After Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy for Initially Node Positive Breast Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis" with Dr. Eman Sbaity.
Kassem was working on the MRVP-Int'l project entitled, "Review: Machine Learning vs Biomarkers: The Race to Predict Acute Kidney Injury​" with Dr. Joe El-Khoury from Yale University.

The MRVP committee would like to thank Abir and Kassem for showing outstanding medical research capabilities as well as dedication and passion for research.

2019 Awards

The MRVP Committee is delighted to announce ​that it has voted to award the 2019 "Ibrahim and Loulu Durr Endowed MRVP Awards" to Ms. Batoul Assi and Mr. Ricardo Nehme
Batoul was working on the MRVP project entitled, "Follow-up Cohort: T​he Greater Beirut Area Cardiovascular Cohort​" with Dr. Martine El-Bejjani.
Ricardo was working on the MRVP project entitled, "Determining the Causes of Child Road Deaths and Injuries in Lebanon​" with Dr. Samar Hajj.

The MRVP committee would like to thank Batoul and Ricardo for showing outstanding medical research capabilities as well as dedication and passion for research.

2018 Awards
The MRVP Committee is delighted to announce ​that it has voted to grant the 2018 "Ibrahim and Loulu Durr Endowed MRVP Awards" to Mr. Bachar Hasan and Ms. Lara Chaaban
Bachar was working on the MRVP project entitled, "Comparing the Oncologic Outcomes of Partial and Total Mastectomy for Breast Cancer Patients Following Preoperative Systemic Chemotherapy: Matched Retrospective Cohort" with Dr. Eman Sbaity.
Lara was working on the MRVP project entitled, "Exploration of the Effect of Oral anti-hyperglycemic Drugs as an Early Intervention for Diabetic Cardiovascular Complications​" with Dr. Ahmed Fawzi-El-Yazbi.

The MRVP committee would like to thank Bachar and Lara for showing outstanding medical research capabilities as well as dedication and passion for research.

2017 Awards
The MRVP Committee is delighted to announce that it has voted to award the 2017 "Ibrahim and Loulu Durr Endowed MRVP Awards" to Mr. Daniel Badin and Ms. Zahraa Rahal . 
Daniel was working on the MRVP project entitled, "Infant Positionning in the NICU: Quality Improvement Project​" with Dr. Lama Charadeddine.
Zahraa was working on the MRVP project entitled, "Lung Cancer Development Following Knockout of Gprc5a and Tobacco Carcinogen Exposure" with Dr. Humam Kadara.

The MRVP committee would like to thank Daniel and Zahraa  for showing outstanding medical research capabilities as well as dedication and passion for research.

2016 Award
​ The MRVP Committee is thrilled to announce that it has voted to award Mr. Mustapha Jomaa the 2016 "Ibrahim and Loulu Durr Endowed MRVP Award" for his "Outstanding medical research capabilities". 
Mustpha was working on the MRVP project entitled, "Phenotype-genotype Correlations in Patients with Wilson Disease" with Dr. Julnar Usta.

​Congratulations on a very well deserved award. The committee wishes Mustapha continuous success in his academic journey.​​
