The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites applications for two tenure-track positions as part the expansion plans of the newly-endowed Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering & Architecture (MSFEA).

Applicants from all research areas related to industrial engineering will be considered. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in industrial engineering or a closely-related field with at least one degree in engineering by the date of appointment. Candidates with research interests in all industrial engineering areas, especially in manufacturing systems, quality engineering, human factors and ergonomics, and project management, are encouraged to apply.  Candidates with teaching experience, industrial or post-doctoral appointments and a record of grant funding and scholarly publications are particularly encouraged to apply.  Applications should include a letter of interest, statements of teaching and research interests, CV, and the names and contact details of at least three references. The Department is home to more than 7 faculty, 85 master's students, and 200 undergraduate students and is part of MSFEA, a flagship engineering, architecture, and design faculty of the AUB that attracts the most highly sought students from Lebanon and the region. Founded in 1866, the AUB bases its educational philosophy, standards, and practices on the American liberal arts model of higher education. A teaching-centered research university that is ranked among the top 250 universities in the QS World University Rankings, AUB has approximately 700 full-time faculty members and 8000 students from more than 60 countries. The student body is 50 percent female, and the language of instruction is English. Set on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, the University has a green campus dotted with historic and contemporary buildings, a state of the art athletics complex, a major regional teaching hospital, and is located in the heart of the vibrant city of Beirut which offers numerous venues for the arts, entertainment, and community engagement. It is also located less than one hour's drive from the ski slopes of Mt. Lebanon, and a wide variety of hiking, caving, and cycling terrain.

Entry to Digital Market Instructor​

The Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (MSFEA) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) in Beirut, Lebanon invites applications for an Instructor Position for the Fall term of 2021-22. The candidate is expected to develop a one-credit asynchronous online course whose aim is to offer students an opportunity to place themselves and their products in the contemporary digital market.


This online course is a part of an online certificate program which is currently under development at MSEA to provide youth in Lebanon and the Arab region with the skills needed for entry-level positions and freelance work in the software industry. The course consists of two parts. The objective of the first part is to help students build their curriculum vitae, portfolios and code repositories for themselves and their projects. The course is supposed to introduce deployment and packaging of artifacts and components on several digital market platforms. It should also shortly discuss alternatives for attracting funding for small to medium level projects through existing platforms. The second part consists of recorded lectures which will be given by volunteer speakers from the industry with success stories. The candidate is expected to develop few asynchronous online lectures related to the first part and coordinate the talks in the second part.


Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in computer science or related field. Applicants should have industry experience, expert knowledge in software development, as well as good communication skills.
