The Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites applications for a cross-disciplinary tenure-track faculty position in engineering. We seek candidates whose research bridges diverse disciplines using novel approaches, and that tackles pressing societal challenges. The successful candidate will have also demonstrated initiative in innovative educational programs in engineering.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Engineering, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field. The successful candidate will be expected to teach required courses in one or more engineering discipline, and to develop undergraduate electives and graduate courses that attract students from more than one engineering discipline. The candidate must demonstrate strong research potential that can lead to external funding and scholarly publications.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), in the Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the American University of Beirut, invites applications for two faculty positions in the area of computer science at the rank of assistant professor. Exceptional candidates will be considered for other ranks and for non-tenure track appointments. 

Applicants for the two positions should hold a PhD degree in ECE or Computer Science. Candidates with a strong research record in any area of computer science are encouraged to apply. Areas of interest include but are not limited to Cybersecurity, Machine Learning, ​Computational Data Science, Software Engineering, and Theory and Algorithms.

The successful candidates are expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in the candidate's field, participate in program development, and be active in research. A two- to three-year professional experience is desirable but not necessary.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering & Architecture at the American University of Beirut invites candidates to apply for a faculty position, preferably at the assistant professor level in the area of thermal-fluid, starting September 2019. The applicant should have a PhD degree in mechanical engineering, preferably with postdoctoral or industrial experience, be able to conduct strong research in thermal-fluids, and demonstrate a record of independent research and publications.

The successful candidate is expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in mechanical engineering and be active in research. The candidate is expected to take an active role in developing research initiatives leading to external funding and publications in internationally recognized journals, and should have the ability to work in a team-oriented environment. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of Structural Engineering, preferably at the level of Assistant Professor.  Applications for a visiting position at all ranks may also be considered.

The successful candidate must hold a Doctoral Degree in Civil Engineering or related field and must demonstrate potential for quality research and teaching.  Applicants whose research interests include one or more of the following research areas are encourage to apply.  Research interests encompass experimental and numerical research on the behavior and design of reinforced and/or prestressed concrete structures; experimental testing and modeling of large-scale structures; innovative structural systems; or experimental validation and design of concrete structures subjected to natural and man-made hazards (earthquake and/or fire and/or blast engineering).
