Smart Structures and Structural Integrity

The mission of the Laboratory of Smart Structures and Structural Integrity (SSSI) is to develop innovative sensor technologies for Structural Health Monitoring of our mechanical, and civil infrastructure. Further, perform research on the fabrication and enhancement of advanced materials and structures. Ultimately, aiming to empower our structures with a new level of artificial intelligence to assist in decision-making, preventive maintenance and prediction of performance.

Within SSSI, we use various sources of data collected from piezoelectric wafers, piezo-based accelerometers, fiber Bragg grating to develop advanced algorithms for flaw detection, localization and assessment.
