Hexagonal tiles at the AUB Museum



​The AUB Archaeological Museum has in its Ottoman collection, two hexagonal ceramic tiles decorated with blue patterns, on a white background with turquoise borders.

On one of the glazed Turkish tiles (Inv. # 32.78), a lute separates a pomegranate decoration in blue, framed by two black lines followed by a turquoise ribbon bordered by a third black frame (width: 17.16 cm, length: 19.9cm, thickness: 1.8cm).

The second glazed Turkish tile (Inv. # 36.x.143) is decorated with blue and wavy floral patterns on a white background (width: 17.2 cm, length: 18.7 cm, thickness: 1.8 cm).
