The Thrones of Astarte at the AUB Museum

Two Phoenician limestone votive thrones (Inv.# 90.3, Inv.# 2014.1) associated with the goddess Astarte were donated to the AUB Museum.

They consist of a trapezoidal baetylus sculptured in low relief, flanked by winged sphinxes on either side of the seat. The lower front is decorated with floral motifs and volutes.
