On September 17th 2014, the fourth annual “Stock the Wood” concert was organized by AUB’s Nature Conservation Center. The concert is a fundraising event part of the NCC’s “Ana Shajara” reforestation program, and draws its theme from the 1969 pro-rights Woodstock festival.
This year’s event was subtitled “Evolution” and song covers ranging from the 60s to the 90s were played by Amer Gharib, Mother Mantra, Runaway Jacks, Silverage and Sima Dardari. The turnout was impressive on the green terrace and allowed the NCC to raise $3,700 to help fund the year’s planting projects.
Since 2007, “Ana Shajara” has overseen the planting and survival of 85,000 trees and counting. The concerts and program continue to evolve, but their mission remains to bring back the Green Lebanon from old folktales. The NCC continues to take steady steps toward achieving this goal.
