​​Students at AUB may study at any accredited university in the world, assuming that they can do coursework in the language of instruction and that they can find courses that AUB faculty approve as counting towards their degree requirements or electives.  For this reason, it is important to choose a university or program of high academic quality. 


  • Undergraduates are required to have a successfully completed at least 24 AUB credits at the sophomore level before they study abroad
  • Students can study abroad in summer even if they did not complete 24 AUB credits
  • Graduate students are required to have successfully completed at least 6 AUB credits before they study abroad
  • Students may NOT study abroad during the final semester of their degree program at AUB Students must be in good academic standing
  • A student who transferred into AUB as a junior is only permitted to attend a summer study abroad program
  • MEPI students are eligible for study abroad but only in the US.

Tuition and Fees

In a study abroad program a student pays tuition at his or her host university.

Note: To maintain their active status at AUB, study abroad students must pay AUB Internet, social activity, and other miscellaneous fees.

How to Apply

  1. Start by making use of our program search database to discover the best program for you.
  2. Apply to the selected university or program (note: application processes will vary depending on the selected university or program)
  3. Fill out the Study Abroad Course Approval Application by the assigned deadline in order to pre-approve your courses, maintain an active status at AUB, and register for the semester following study abroad. Further details are listed on the study abroad application form.
  4. Pay AUB Internet, social activity, and other miscellaneous fees by the deadline.

Study Abroad Course Approval Application

This form will ensure that you secure approval for the courses that you plan to take abroad.

  • Summer 2018: March 21,2017
  • Spring 2018: October 30, 2017
  • Fall 2019 :  April 11,2018

Final Clearance Form

This form will ensure that your status as an AUB student will remain active during your study abroad semester.

  • Summer 2018 : April 25,2017
  • Spring 2018: November 30, 2017
  • Fall 2019 : May 23,2018
