  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. AUB offers more than 130 programs leading to bachelor's, master's, MD, and PhD degrees. The main language of instruction is English.

Moving Beyond Traditional Exchanges is an initiative that aims at facilitating meaningful connections between faculty members at Amherst College and The American University of Beirut. These connections are envisioned to pave the way for future collaborations where Faculty and staff will engage in exchange ideas and collaborative planning for joint programming and professional development, fostering a long-lasting institutional partnership.
