OIP’s annual Study Abroad Fair is aimed at all AUB students, faculty and staff taking part in, or exploring programs abroad. This event offers students the chance to meet representatives from partner universities, funding agencies, and connect with study abroad alumni.
This year the fair attracted around 400 students, faculty and staff – an increase of 160% over last year’s attendance. Represented universities included: Sciences Po, Lund University, International University, London School of Economics, University of Pavia, Freie Universität Berlin, American University, UPENN. Partner university representatives from Koc University, ESSCA, University California Berkeley, UNIGE, University College Dublin and University of Zurich attended as did DAAD, Educom Overseas, the Brazilian Embassy and SAI Programs.
Twenty seven students volunteered to man university specific booths; 13 AUB study abroad alumni manned booths representing universities they attended and 14 international students currently studying at AUB represented their home universities.
The Study Abroad Fair is serving as a tool to attract more students to spend their semesters abroad. This is reflected in the total number of outbound students and the total number of students’ advising sessions being conducted.
The Office of International Programs is always working on forming diverse agreements that best suit students who belong to the different Faculties within AUB.
We are glad that OIP’s 2018-19 Study Abroad Fair was able to attract more potential study abroad students and we look forward next year’s fair!
