On August 25, OIP held the 2019-20 Fall International Student Welcome Day and brought together 219 international students coming from the United States, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Australia, Norway, Switzerland, Canada, Ireland, Japan, Romania, Turkey, and United Kingdom among other places. With a notable 59% increase in exchange students and 75% increase in visiting students, the OIP team embarked on a new academic year full of renewed prospects, horizons, and partnerships.
Undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking, visiting and exchange students from different nationalities and educational backgrounds sat together and enjoyed the opportunity to discover, learn, and connect with one another.
The event began with a morning of icebreakers and a campus tour to delicious Lebanese brunch and an afternoon of informative sessions on campus resources and student engagement, university health services, cultural adaptation, as well as safety and security on and off campus. The ISWD was facilitated by a group of spirited AUB student volunteers who served as OIP mentors and extended a warm and hospitable welcome to all new international students.
