The Office of International Programs celebrated its tenth anniversary with the publication of its first self-study report in June 2020.
Aside from serving as a testament to the establishment and growth of the OIP over the past ten years, the 122-page self-study report highlights OIP's trajectory to date including its achievements; how it has addressed challenges and identified opportunities for growth; and most importantly, emphasizes its role within and its contribution to the university as a whole.
An Internal Review Committee (IRC) led by Professor Ali El Hajj and including Mona Assi (University Libraries) and Maya Nabhani (Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences) and Hiba Itani (Academic Assessment Unit) was instrumental in providing guidance and feedback throughout the process. Once finalized, the report was reviewed by an external reviewer, Professor Joanna Regulska vice provost and dean of Global Affairs at the University of California, Davis. The external review could not take place on site due to the pandemic and so it was conducted remotely: it resulted in a positive reviewer's report that included recommendations and ideas for how OIP can be part of a larger internationalization strategy at AUB.
The Office of International Programs envisions a culture of internationalization at AUB and a mutual intercultural understanding and diversity on campus. The reviewer's report and the final recommendations of the IRC will guide OIP as we continue to strive towards our vision.
The project, begun in 2018, was made possible by the support of the Office of the Provost and the contributions of OIP staff and graduate assistants.
