As a Suliman S. Olayan School of Business (OSB) graduate, I returned to my Alma mater, the American University of Beirut (AUB), which is the only university that offers a fully-fledged advanced Master’s in Human Resources Management (MHRM) degree for early career professionals in the region. This advanced and agile curriculum, with its line-up of quality faculty, was definitely the main reason for me to pursue my graduate studies here.
MHRM offers a holistic personal, professional, and academic development experience, which I was really looking forward to when I first enrolled. Even though we only attended virtual classes, the courses follow a blended learning approach, with live lectures, individual and group assignments, and real-life case studies that really allow us to grasp the concepts and get hands-on experience. The curriculum covers everything a current HR professional needs to know and apply. Another thing is the amazing support system provided by the faculty and staff, who are there to help us every step of the way. I was given the opportunity to connect and stay in touch with amazingly experienced professors, who always advise and guide me. The additional activities that are conducted, as well as the courses, definitely add a lot to the whole experience, whether it’s the weekly webinars, the HR coffee breaks for us to talk about anything and everything, or the certificates we are advised to earn.
I owe a lot of who I am to the education and experience I received at OSB in general, and specifically the MHRM program. The skills and competencies I had developed, and continue to develop, have made me a well-rounded learning and development professional with international standards. Personally, the program really allowed me to see how I can still succeed in building a rapport, and make meaningful connections with people I only know virtually.
