Meet Dr. Yusuf Sidani, Dean
Professor of Leadership and Business Ethics
Dr. Yusuf Sidani, who has served as associate dean of research and faculty development at the Olayan School of Business (OSB) since March 2018, interim dean of OSB since October 1, 2020, and is taking the role of dean of OSB, effective September 1, 2021.
“We have come a long way over the past few years, and it is extremely important to keep our focus as a leading institution of business learning and knowledge transfer in this region. We are cognizant of all of what is happening around us, but we should not be distracted from doing what we have been doing best along the same standards of excellence,” noted Dr. Sidani. “World-class student learning remains our top strategic priority; this can only happen if we are able to continue attracting and retaining the fine talent that we have amassed over the years embodied in passionate teachers and exceptional researchers.”
Dr. Sidani gained his BBA from AUB in 1985 and went on to graduate studies at Indiana University (MBA, ’87) and University of Mississippi (PhD ’93). He has extensive teaching and course development experience in business ethics, leadership, fraud prevention and control, strategic analysis and control, and organizational behavior, while his research focus also includes gender and diversity in organizations. He has authored a number of books, including Business Ethics in the Middle East (Routledge, 2018) filling an important gap in the teaching literature connecting global ethical standards and local contexts. In 2015, Dr. Sidani received the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers in the category of values and professional ethics in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and education.
Dr. Sidani has started working closely with the AUB and OSB leadership to ensure that our university’s school of business continues to uphold its high standards of education and service, through its stellar programs, faculty, staff, and students. The faculty has been making impressive progress with the launch this term of AUB’s first fully online master’s program, the Online MBA, and it has been recognized with some remarkable results in the latest
QS assessment of global master’s program which put it among the top business schools in the world. These include the top rank in the MENA region and #43 in the world for OSB’s master’s in business analytics (MSBA), top regional rank and #79 in the world for its MBA, and #62 in the world and second in the region for its master’s in finance.
