AUB’s Suliman S. Olayan School of Business wins Innovation Award for its impact-driven research

Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS), the leading data research platform and business intelligence tool for corporate, academic and government institutions worldwide, has awarded the American University of Beirut Suliman S. Olayan School of Business (OSB) the WRDS-SSRN Innovation Award for the Europe, Middle East, and Asia (EMEA) region. OSB Dean Steve Harvey received the prestigious award at the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) EMEA conference in Paris on October 31, 2018.

The award, created by a unique collaboration with SSRN and Elsevier, honors emerging business schools that produce exceptional data-driven research.

"We are thrilled with this recognition as a school committed to high-quality research with impact and international reach,” said OSB Dean Harvey. “It will serve to energize us even more to continue our focus on bringing actionable knowledge to the fore."

The award further validates that OSB’s research is second to none. Today, its faculty research serves as not only a knowledge transfer vehicle but also impacts policy and global business leadership. In 2016, the U.S. News & World Report ranked the school No.1 in the MENA region in overall research quality, research excellence, and research impact. With OSB’s strategic location, research hubs, and scores of synergistic business relationships, it is primed for research that crosses disciplines and covers a wide range of areas such as data analytics, family business, corporate governance, entrepreneurship, and corporate social responsibility.

The school constantly strives to transfer new knowledge and turn academic findings into practice through fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, advancing economic development, and transforming lives. One example of such practice is OSB’s Knowledge is Power project (KiP), which was recognized by AACSB International and has been praised worldwide for innovation in leadership development and helping organizations advance anti-harassment policies within the Lebanese and wider Arab context. This award comes on top of a long list of local, regional, and international awards and recognitions accorded to the school and its faculty members in recent years.

Nominated universities are selected from across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific regions. Learn more about the award >>
