Today, the Suliman S. Olayan School of Business is proud to congratulate Senior Lecturer Rania Uwaydah Mardini on her appointment as a board member of the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA). During a meeting on the 6th of October 2022, the Public Interest Oversight Board (PIOB) approved Ms. Mardini’s appointment to the IESBA effective the 1st of January 2023 for a three-year term.
The IESBA is an independent organization that develops ethical standards for professional accountants worldwide, such as the International Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, as well as fosters international debate on ethical issues faced in the field.
Ms. Uwaydah Mardini, on the other hand, is an international accountancy specialist with extensive pedagogical and consulting experience in accountancy, financial control, governance, and anti-corruption. In that capacity and as a public financial management expert, she is a consultant to the Regional Bureau of Arab States of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Having accomplished all this, it’s no surprise that Ms. Mardini graduated from AUB with a BBA (with Distinction, 1996) and an MBA in Finance (1999), eventually becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) — licensed in both California, USA, and Lebanon, and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
We salute Ms. Uwaydah Mardini for her tireless work and are certain we’ll have more to announce about her soon!
