One of the most respected and widely read university ranking agencies, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), has ranked the American University of Beirut Suliman S. Olayan School of Business MBA and Master's in Finance programs among the elite business school programs in the world. This ranking positions the School as a top pick for anyone considering a world-class master's degree in Lebanon and the MENA region.
“There are so many great, respectable business schools around the world offering a sound business education with their unique experiences and settings," said OSB Dean Steve Harvey. “We are simply proud to be considered one such great place for those interested in the MENA region."
Of more than 230 full-time MBA programs carefully selected for QS Global MBA Rankings 2018, the OSB MBA program was the only one in Lebanon to make the list and outperformed all other MBA programs in the region.
“The MBA Program at AUB blends the best ideas coming from advanced research into their real practical applications with specific emphasis on the MENA region. The new rankings are the best evidence of this distinctive feature that is not commonly found in this part of the world," noted Dr. Yassar Nasser, MBA Program Director and EMBA Academic Director. “Our students, business community and society value and appreciate what the OSB MBA continues to foster on all of these fronts."
Additionally, the School placed exceptionally well in the Master's in Finance program, ranking 63rd globally. A total of 131 top global schools were considered in this edition and similar to the MBA placing, AUB was the only school in Lebanon to be considered and outperformed all other programs in the MENA region.
"The Master's in Finance attracts both finance professionals, who want to advance their career, and other highly qualified undergraduates, who aspire to ready themselves for success in the professional finance world,” said Associate Dean of Executive Education and Continuing Education and Convener of FAME Track Dr. Said Elfakhani, pointing out that the program delivers the latest knowledge and cutting-edge tools and technical skills that are most useful in the various realm of finance.
QS rankings assess global elite business programs against key indicators such as employability, thought leadership, and class and faculty diversity. The MBA rankings also weigh in entrepreneurship and return on investment, while the Master of Finance program factor alumni outcomes and value for money.
In 2016, the School was ranked by U.S. News & World Report as No. 1 in overall research quality, research excellence, and research impact despite the relatively smaller size of its faculty compared to other top ranked schools in the Arab region. In fact, OSB has grown its diverse full-time faculty from 13 to 56 in the past 10 years and is graduating more than 70 graduate students every year.
