OSB welcomes new faculty, staff members

​​​​​​​OSB is proud to welcome four faculty and three staff members to the OSB family this academic year. These highly accomplished practitioners significantly enhance the school's offerings in operations management, business analytics, entrepreneurship, finance, digital marketing, and executive education.​

Faculty members

Nevee​n Ahmed
Assistant Professor​​

Dr. Neveen Ahmed joined OSB this fall as an assistant professor of finance. Dr. Ahmed previously taught graduate and undergraduate courses at American University in Cairo (AUC) and North Carolina State University in international finance, business finance, and investment analysis. Her research interests include corporate finance, investments and performance of SMEs. Her research has appeared in the Journal of Economic Studies, Research in International Business and Finance and Finance Research Letters. Additionally, Dr. Ahmed worked on multidisciplinary research grants from the Qatar National Research Foundation and the Magdi Yaacoub Foundation. Dr.​ Ahmed served as a board member of Holdi Pharma and as a mentor in several student case competitions, where her team achieved first place in the 2019 EngCom competition. While at AUC, Dr. Ahmed was the steering committee co-chair for the Middle State Commission on Higher Education in 2016-2018 and the director of the Master of Science in Finance. She received the AUC School of Business “Excellence in Service Award” in 2016 and 2018, and the “Excellence in Research Award” in 2019.​

Harry Van Buren III
Visiting Professor

Dr. Harr​y Van Buren III​ joined OSB as a visiting professor of business ethics from the University of New Mexico's Anderson School of Management, where he holds the Rust Professorship in Business Ethics. He received his PhD in business environment, ethics and public policy from the University of Pittsburgh's Katz Graduate School of Business, M.S. in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary, and M.S. in education for sustainability from London South Bank University. His researc​​h interests include relational stakeholder theory, business and human rights, preventing human trafficking in global supply chains, employment ethics, gender and social capital, and intersectionality analysis in diversity management. Dr. Buren's research has been widely published in Academy of Management Review, Business and Human Rights Journal, Business & Society, Business and Society Review, Business Ethics Quarterly, Futures, Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management Review, Journal of Business Ethics, and Journal of Management Studies among other journals. He is currently president of the International Association for Business and Society and a former division chair for the Social Issues in Management division of the Academy of Management. 

Yasmeen Makarem
Assistant Professor​​​

Dr. Yasmeen Makarem joined OSB this fall as an assistant professor of human resource development. Dr. Makarem received her PhD from Texas A&M University in 2019 and was the recipient of the Distinguished Honor Graduate Award for her academic achievements and leadership throughout her doctoral studies. Furthermore, she holds a Master's degree in Human Resource Management from AUB and B.S. from the Lebanese American University. Dr. Makarem's research explores human resources practices in developing economies, with a particular focus on the theory and practice of career development. Her work has been published in several journals and academic conferences, including Human Resource Management Journal, Business Research Quarterly, Academy of Management and Academy of Human Resource Development. Yasmeen is currently completing her 3-year term as the managing editor of Human Resource Development Review

Zeina Nsouli
Practitioner in Residence​

Dr. Zeina Nsouli joined OSB this fall as a Practitioner in Residence after completing her PhD in Marketing Management Science from ICN Business School in France. She also holds an MBA from AUST, a B.A. in Public Administration from AUB, and brings over sixteen-years of managerial experience in the field of higher education. Dr. Nsouli has worked in leadership roles across executive education, continuing education, career services, admissions, and quality assurance. Her Ph.D. dissertation investigated the service quality concept in the higher education sector, examining the effect of institutions' tangible cues and third-party organization endorsement in the form of multiple accreditations on prospective students' quality perceptions. In her dual role, Dr. Nsouli will both teach marketing courses and develop and market various executive education open-enrollment programs.​

Staff members

Abir Sinno
Accreditations Officer

Abir Sinno, who has worked for OSB since 2016 as Trading Room Administrator, recently assumed the role of Accreditations Officer. In her new position, Abir will engage with various stakeholders and teams to ensure that key strategies and objectives are implemented and aligned with the school's commitment to continuous improvement as part of the accreditation and ranking efforts. Prior to joining the business school, Abir worked at Beirut Arab University as a research officer. She completed her B.S. in information and communication technologies from Arab Open University, an MBA from the Lebanese American University, and has recently earned the Project Management Professional certification.​

Diana Matar
Integrated Marketing Coordinator

OSB alum Diana Matar (BBA '17) joined OSB this summer as the Integrated Marketing Coordinator. In her new role, Diana will be responsible for integrated marketing processes related to academic recruitment and ensuring that each program is promoted adequately and integrated properly through appropriate channels. Prior to OSB, Diana worked as a marketing executive at Esposa Group where she handled different integrated marketing aspects of retail brand strategies from in-store activities, special events, and photo shoots to digital marketing strategies. Diana is passionate about marketing and she finds power in data analysis, optimizing processes, and increasing return on investment.

​Yara Haddad
Digital Marketing Coordinator

Yara Haddad is the new Digital Marketing Coordinator. She previously worked at AMIDEAST as a marketing and communication specialist overseeing marketing programs, scholarships, courses, and workshops. Additional background experiences include serving as an account manager and communication officer at MillionK, a Lebanon-based advertising agency. Yara interned in the public relations department at Memac Ogilvy and has volunteered at Saint Paul Charity Mission. She hold a B.A. in Public Relations and Advertising with an emphasis in marketing from Lebanese University. ​
