The Second Case Conference, organized by The Case Hub at the Suliman S. Olayan School of Business, was a success. It took place on February 2nd and 3rd, 2024, at the American University of Beirut twin campus in Pafos, attracting around 100 academics from 45 universities in 15 countries, from the US to India, with a substantial representation from Lebanon, Cyprus, and the Arab countries. In a learning and collaborative atmosphere, participants attended and engaged in multiple stimulating sessions.
- Two keynotes delivered respectively by Dr. Nadine de Gannes, PhD, who serves as the Faculty Director at Ivey Business School in Canada, and Professor Tawfik Jelassi, PhD, professor of strategy at IMD Business School in Switzerland, both distinguished experts in case writing and teaching, held the audience captive with their inspirational speeches, where they shared their personal experiences in embracing the case method.
- Panels on the strategic role of case studies, on case centers in the region, and on tips and tricks for creating award-winning cases included distinguished participants such as deans, directors of case centers and award-winning case writers to name a few.
- Case development sessions in which case experts led roundtable discussions and provided valuable developmental feedback to case presenters.
- Two professional development sessions moderated by Ivey Publishing provided guidance and insights on case writing and publishing.
The expertise and collaborative spirit showcased during the conference emphasize the vital role of the case method in bridging theory and practice. The success of this event paves the way for future endeavors, including the upcoming 2025 Case Conference.
