  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. The University encourages freedom of thought and expression and seeks to graduate men and women committed to creative and critical thinking, lifelong learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.

  AUB is accredited in the US by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and includes six faculties: Arts and Sciences, Medicine, Engineering and Architecture, Agricultural and Food Sciences, Health Sciences, and Business. AUB offers more than 130 programs leading to bachelor's, master's, MD, and PhD degrees. The main language of instruction is English.

In most cities, regions and countries, a critical ingredient of a vibrant ecosystem for entrepreneurship is the quality and quantity of collaboration and cooperation among players especially as the maturity level of the field increases.

What We Do?

Taking part in collaborating with the ecosystem is part of our mission at the Darwazah Center. We also stand ready and have engaged in helping by sharing our know-how with other accelerators and sister university centers of excellence.

Indeed, building up the MENA’s current fledgling innovation and entrepreneurship landscape into a vibrant ecosystem is core to our mission.

In August 2024, Dr. Bijan Azad, Director of the Darwazah Center, talked about the entrepreneurial lifestyle as well as the Center's key initiatives that help aspiring entrepreneurs start, grow and scale successful businesses.
