  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. The University encourages freedom of thought and expression and seeks to graduate men and women committed to creative and critical thinking, lifelong learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.

Jamal Saidi

An award-winning professional and published photographer and photojournalist whose life’s work has appeared in a wide range on the front covers of international and regional newspapers and magazines. Having served over 30 years at REUTERS as Chief Photographer in the Levant region, my regional conflict coverage included the Lebanese Civil War, Gulf War, and the Iraq War, amongst various historical moments that have shaped the Middle East and the world. Member of the AUB University for Seniors since 2015.
