The Masri Institute will host Dr. Ioannis Economou, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and Professor of Chemical Engineering Program at Texas A&M University at Qatar, in a seminar titled " Advances in Gas Separation: Interplay of Experiments and Theory" on October 20, 2017 at the American University of Beirut. Dr. Economou will deliver a lecture titled "Thermodynamics of fluids under confinement: Molecular models, structure and physical property predictions", The seminar will include 2 additional presentations and will be followed by a panel discussion.

The 7th Annual Workshop titled Energy Geo-Science and Engineering was held on April 7, 2017 and hosted Dr. J. Carlos Santamarina, Professor of Earth Science and Engineering, KAUST, and Associate Director of Upstream Petroleum Engineering Research Center. Interface Science of Plastic Solar CellsThe Masri Institute hosted Dr. Tobin Marks on April 7 & 8, 2016. The lecture was held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 . In this seminar, challenges and opportunities in molecular photovoltaic interface science were illustrated. It was observed that such rational interface engineering along with improved bulk-heterojunction polymer structures guided by theoretical/computational analysis, affords exceptional fill factors, solar power conversion efficiencies greater than 10%, and enhanced solar cell durability. Financing Energy Projects in the Middle East: Uncertainties and Opportunities A public workshop on Energy Finance in the Middle East was held on Friday, January 22, 2016. The workshop offered an understanding of current and emerging financing models of energy projects in the region highlighting the challenges that investors and governments face, particularly when considering renewables and nuclear power projects. Different themes were discussed from Regional Outlook and Country Perspectives to Country and Technology-based Challenges, Models of Project Financing and Risk Management and Influences.

The Master of Science in Energy Studies addresses current and future energy research needs of the region in areas such as energy science and technology, economics, public policy, and energy management. It aims to engage students in the development of energy initiatives, prepare energy studies’ professionals to meet market needs of the region and internationally, advance knowledge in energy science and technology through research, and support energy dialogue for the development of appropriate and informed public policies. The Energy Studies program will be able to address the complex needs of the region and issues of energy mix as linked to development and economies.
The program can be completed in 1.5-2 years. Full-time or part-time enrollments are accepted.
