Functions and Composition HomeRecentFunctions and CompositionCurrently selectedMembersResearch Funding Guidelines 2024-25Research IntegrityUseful Forms and LinksResearch SkillsGraduate Student Conference AwardContact Us Page ContentFunctionsPromote quality research in the University through URB research funding programs.Consider and recommend to the senate policies for the allocation of URB research funds.Advise the provost on the implementation of policies pertaining to research funding.Act on matters related to scientific research referred to it by the senate or the provost.Develop and revise University-wide guidelines for the submission and review process of URB-funded research grants.Recommend to the provost the allocation of URB research funds in accordance with URB funding guidelines.Contribute to arbitration and recommendation of action to the provost on any disputes or differences on intellectual property and authorship issues related to proposals, deliverables, publications, or other research products.Advise the provost on matters related to ethical research conduct.Prepare, edit and publish the annual research report of the University.CompositionTwo representatives from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (one from the Humanities/Social Sciences and one from the Sciences), one from the Hariri School of Nursing, and one from each of the other faculties/schools elected by their respective faculties for a term of three years.The provost, ex-officio member.The director of the Office of Grants and Contracts, ex-officio member non-voting.The director of the Human Research Protection Program, ex-officio member non-voting.The chairperson shall be appointed by the president.
