Jana Sabra, HES USP VIII Cycle 1 student, successfully completes her community-based internship with Riyada for Social Innovation

Jana Sabra joined Riyada for Social Innovation in 2018 and has been participating in a variety of projects engaging youth in hands-on activities that focus on the use of technology to solve social problems. Riyada is a social enterprise that aims to foster social entrepreneurship by equipping active youth with social innovation skills comprised of digital technology, community engagement, while also expanding their professional network.

In summer 2021, Jana interned with Riyada to support with developing programs, and mentoring youth throughout the execution, including the first social innovation e-learning platform in the Arab world, “Web for Change”, and “Revolutionizing Politics: through the lens of technology”.

In Jana’s words: “the sense of management, responsibility, delegation, respect, constructive feedback, encouraging peers to voice out their concerns and asking for their input are crucial criteria that a team leader should have”. This internship enabled Jana to enhance her inter-personal skills and acquire a set of professional competencies, teaching her the importance of understanding the needs of targeted groups, identifying their challenges, and efficiently tackling them, prior to designing an intervention.
