  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. Alexander S. Geha, MD, MS

A trustee emeritus since 2012, trustee since 2006, and an AUB graduate (BS ’55, MD ’59), Geha is a professor of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at the University of California San Diego Medical Center and professor and chair emeritus of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Chicago. Previously he held similar appointments at Yale University and at Case Western Reserve University.
