Librarians participate in MELA 2022

Associate University Librarians Samar Mikati, Elie Kahale and Basma Chebani gave a presentation, at the Middle East Librarians Association (MELA) Conference December 2022, to introduce the EAP 1423 project to the MELA Conference participants.

In 2021, AUB Libraries received a major grant from the British Library as part of the Endangered Archives Program for “Safeguarding the Issa Iskandar al Maa'luf Manuscript collection (EAP1423)".

The presentation introduced the different phases of the project of mainly preserving, cataloging, and digitizing the hundred manuscripts and highlighted the importance of such a grant, challenges and opportunities of the project in an era where travelling to reach and consult such resources is hindered by economic and health barriers.

The manuscripts are available through AUB Digital Collections.
