In Spring 2015, the Neighborhood Initiative hosted two students from Aalborg University in Denmark who have stumbled upon old maps and photographs from the 1960s from Per Kongstad's collection, whose research with Samir Khalaf resulted in the book Hamra of Beirut.
As part of their masters dissertation, the students digitized the maps and photographs, and integrated them into an online ArcGIS story map entitled Hamra of Beirut Revisited that located their material on a modern map in order to track the neighborhood change over the past few decades. All the original material will be donated to AUB archives.
