  • The Department of Experimental Pathology, Immunology and Microbiology is dedicated to research and medical academic study of disease processes, microorganisms and the immune system.

    ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Department focuses on the intertwined disciplines of experimental pathology, immunology and microbiology via providing the latest in cutting-edge science and technologies to students, scientists and researchers in these fields. The Department offers both M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Microbiology and Immunology in addition to training students and post-doctoral researchers. Research in the department encompasses immune responses to endotoxin, cancer immunot​herapy, mechanisms of bacterial resistance, immune responses to viral DNA, genetic and environmental associations with autoimmune diseases, genetics and epidemiology of respiratory and gastroenteric viruses, virus-host interactions, the use of Drosophila melanogaster as a cancer model, and host responses to Toxoplasma gondii among other research endeavors.​
