AUB organizes events throughout the year that are open to the public. Assembly Hall, just inside the Main Gate on Bliss Street, is the location of many of these events.
Assembly Hall was built in 1891 with funds from Elbert B. Monroe, son-in-law of Frederick Marquand who provided funding for Marquand House, which has been the on-campus home of AUB presidents since 1879. Assembly Hall was known originally as the AUB Chapel. It was partially damaged by the explosion that devastated College Hall in 1991.
Many concerts take place in Assembly Hall. It is also used for formal university occasions like Founders Day, Opening Day, and presidential inaugurations.
