FAFS' Dean Mohtar recently (July 29) spoke at the Texas A&M Energy Institute's Distinguished Lecture Series. The Dean addressed global water and food security challenges and stressed the potential of the soil's green water for enhanced food production while reducing the demand for blue water. The Dean also spoke about the potential value of alternative water (treated wastewater and gray water) resources to help meet the growing demand for water for agriculture. He discussed the necessity of a new business model for valuing water and offered several high-level recommendations for increasing water for food security.
