Obeid and Fares (NFSC) participate in UNDP-ESCWA: Building Forward an Inclusive and Accessible Lebanon

Drs. Obeid, Fares, Gherbal (C. Hostler), and Tabshouri (Prev. Medical Engineering) comprised the AUB team participating in Building Forward an Inclusive and Accessible Lebanon, organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) (October 14).

The new initiative supports personnel with disabilities by reducing their exposure to the increasing vulnerabilities arising from Lebanon's manifold crises. During the event, the AUB team supported UNDP Regional Goodwill Ambassador for Climate Action, Mr. Michael Haddad, who completed a 4-kilometre walk to raise awareness of the initiative and kick-off the effort to mobilize resources for the cause. Haddad's walk began at the UN House, Beirut (ESCWA headquarters) and ended at the Karantina Public Hospital, a leading facility providing essential health care to the most vulnerable groups in Beirut (refugees, migrant workers, persons with disabilities).
