  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. The University encourages freedom of thought and expression and seeks to graduate men and women committed to creative and critical thinking, lifelong learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.

AUB offers more than 130 programs leading to bachelor's, master's, MD, and PhD degrees. The main language of instruction is English.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Zaher Dawy, Provost of AUB
Zaher Dawy currently serves as the Provost at the American University of Beirut (AUB) where he is also a professor of electrical and computer engineering. He joined AUB in 2004 after earning his doctoral degree in Communications Engineering from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany. At AUB, Dr. Dawy oversees all facets of academic life across the university, spanning student and faculty affairs, teaching and learning, scholarship and research, strategic initiatives and plans, and co-curricular activities and outreach. His teaching and research interests are in the general areas of wireless networks, internet of things, and biomedical engineering.
