CCHSRD-Trinidad and Tobago: Fellowship Program

Overview

The Caribbean Centre for Health Systems Research and Development (CCHSRD) launched its Evidence to Policy Fellowship Programme on July 27th, 2020. The Centre's Fellowship Programme was designed in collaboration with K2P Center. The program and course outline have been developed in accordance with the K2P Fellowship course outline and with the guidance of the K2P team members.

The Programme provides a unique opportunity for Fellows to develop the capacity to find, appraise, package, and use research evidence to inform decision-making, as well as to develop beneficial products to support the policymaking process. Click on the picture to see their testimony.

Selection of Fellows

A call for applications was issued on May 21st, 2020. The two inaugural Fellows selected are mid-career professionals from the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA), Trinidad and Tobago.

Outputs

The two fellows selected the below priority topics for which evidence is needed to inform policy:

Providing Targeted Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health Services to Adolescents (MoH)
Improving Efficiency in the Health System to Address Overcrowding in Emergency Departments (SWRHA).

As part of the onsite fellowship training, the Fellows have developed policy brief outlines for their selected topic.

Impact

Caribbean Health Policy and Systems Research Centre is currently working offsite with the Fellows to finalize the policy products.
